About Alex

I live in Portland, Oregon, a wondrous place. I have two children. They are great kids of course. I am engaged to the the sweetest girl in all the lands. I have a great job, working in business development for SplashCast. I am the founder of the Podcast Hotel, where I have had the chance to work with and meet so many good folks.

The events look at the intersection of art and commerce and how independent culture is affected by digital media. I’ve produced events in Portland, Seattle and San Francisco. Still deciding where to do the next event. I first explored social media back in 2004 when I did an event called RSS Winterfest.

I am a journalist by trade. I started working for daily newspapers back in 1989. I spent seven years back in the 1990s as a daily newspaper reporter, magzine editor, freelancer and in broadcast as the business anchor for a morning TV show here in Portland.
