Thanks to the Garland Group for posting the video from the Twitter team session at BarCamp Austin during SXSW.
This session proved to be one of the most valuable events I attended at SXSW.

Rafat Ali:
“Our focus is not page views,” Mr. Ali said. “Our focus has been laserlike on the C-level executives in the industry. That’s why we get triple-digit CPMs. That’s nearly unheard of in the industry.”
Mike Arrington:
That said, Mr. Arrington suggests he may well try to play the John D. Rockefeller of the blogging world (without the thugs and arsonists, presumably). “A lot of things...

I’m a little late to the party but I want to congratulate my good pals at SplashCast. They closed a $4 million A round last week. It’s nice to be a SplashCast alumni and watch the company’s great success.
Good summary about SplashCast by Rick Turoczy at Silicon Florist, explaining how the company is taking on traditional advertising.
Raise A Toast To Russell Shaw
Bloggers, everyone - come on out Wed. night to the Metblog party at the Green Dragon and raise a pint with me to good ol’ Russell Shaw. I’ll be there to remember my good friend and Metblog colleague who passed away last weekend. Let’s share a laugh and a story about the hardest working blogger in the business. Russ and I both blogged for Metblog so it will be good to see some friends and familiar...

Russell Shaw died in his sleep sometime Thursday night or Friday morning at a hotel in San Jose. I heard the news today from Ellen, his girlfriend, the woman he calls “his grounding force” in this interview I did with the two of them last year. He loved Ellen. They met last year. She said it was the sweetest time with Russ. I believe it. Russell looked great the last time I saw him....

This is lunacy.

Apple opens its iPhone software, but not for music... →
Another post for music Saturday. I saw so many people with iphones while at SXSW. I was so engulfed, rhapsodized by their elegance. But they certainly are not music phones! Apple is keeping iTunes all locked up to extensions such as iLike. Apps can be built off Safari but they don’t get the same exposure since they are not written with the Apple SDK.
That doesn’t look like it will...

It’s music Saturday, time to look around at some stories about the music world. Looks like Soribabda has achieved legal status in Korea. Perhaps this subscription model has some legs after all?
More Than 50 Percent More People At SXSW
SXSW staffer told me today that there are at least 50 percent more people here than last year. They are using the entire convention center for SXSW Interactive panels. Parties have lines out the door. Too much? Is SXSW peaking?

Thanks, SplashCast - On To Iterasi
I resigned from SplashCast last week. Yesterday was my last day. I started today with Iterasi, one of the coolest companies I have seen in a while. I will be talking a lot about Iterasi. I plan to live by the “Loic LeMeur” school of market conversation. Get out there and talk to people in as many ways as you possibly can. I will start with SXSW in Austin, where I am right now. But...
